Question on Warranty for T 61

I have a T61 with spil damage still under warranty for another 2years. I understand that warranty does not cover spills but how can I fix it without losing warranty without going to $95/hr authorised repair facility? I have a new system board and can do replacement myself but - the MB is updated version (different FRU#) and stickers will obviously stay on the old board. Any thoughts on the issue?
