A31P (2653-H4U) LCD Replacement

#1 Post by 1rogerl » Wed Oct 08, 2008 10:43 am

Hello Everyone,

I have been wrestling with this problem for quite some time now. My LCD went out, or dim and you can just barely make out some of the image. I replaced the inverter with exact match. Still the same. I ordered a new LCD (05K9963 / 05K9933) and was told it was compatible with my LCD (05K9967).

The new LCD does come on, but the screen is shifted about 4 inches to the left, off the bottom of the screen about the same 4 inches. Is there a way to adjust the screen position?

Can anyone please advise me on what might be wrong here?

Many thanks in advance
:?

It sounds like you got the wrong LCD... You need an UXGA one to get the original resolution on your A31P. If you choose to stick with the replacement you got (XGA), then you will have to get the appropriate LCD cable.

My guess is that you won't be happy with XGA if you're used to the A31P's nice UXGA display.

I agree with Virge on this, you will not be happy with XGA after using a UXGA flexview LCD. Just so happens that I have an entire 15" A31P UXGA LCD assembly, lid, cable, LCD, hines, etc. that will be coming available in a week or so if you can wait. Reason it will be a week is because I won't be able to test it until then. In fact this particular LCD came from a forum project machine and the proceeds of it's sale will contribute to the forums next project. PM an offer if you are interested.

A31P (2653-H4U) LCD Replacement

Thank You for your fast response. I sorta figured that, but of course the seller of the new screen doesn't take returns, even though it was advertised to work in the A31P.

Prime Electronics if anyone wants to know where I bought it.

Anyway, it works great with a regular monitor plugged in, so for now that's what I'll use.

Thanks again,

Roger

Well, if your stuck with the LCD, the right cable is probably all that is needed.

I'd say sell the LCD you have and just buy the correct one. Buying the cable for the lower res won't be as satisfying.. You might lose something on the trade but it's better than using the external monitor (does that even do UXGA?).

Thanks for the response. Yes, I replaced the cable for a couple of bucks and everythings OK, but not the same quality as before. I'm waiting to hear from HarryC about the unit he's testing.

Roger, I haven't gotten a working A31P back yet to test with. Should be soon though ...
