"Access IBM" vs. "Thinkvantage"

#1 Post by BigCatAndy » Fri Oct 10, 2008 7:24 am

Hello everybody,

last year I bought new T43p with certain preinstalled software. I haven't updated it for a year or so, and recently I did it. At the end I finished with a new package of utilities called Lenovo ThinkVantage. As far as I can see, it contains all the utilities "Access IBM"-package contained. Here is my question: can I uninstall the older utilities from "Access IBM"-package? Does anyone know the relationship between those two packages?

Thanks in advance,
greetings from Hamburg,

Andrey.

"Access IBM" is a set of utilities which was usually delivered together with new Thinkpads. At the present it's being replaced by Lenovo Thinkvantage suite.

Hello,

I think, it's a bit more. :-) At least, on my hard drive. Thinkvantage installs itself in a new directory, and creates a new group in the Windows XP "Programms" menu.

Yesterday I checked my "Access IBM" folder in "Programms" menu. It looks like Thinkvantage replaced some icons (like Access Connection and Energy Manager) with the new ones (together with creating new group "Thinkvantage" in the menu), but I'm not sure that the older versions were uninstalled from my machine. And I'm wondering if I can uninstall the older stuff from "Access IBM" without influencing the newer components?

Cheers,
Andrey
