Providers to fix GPU problems in Europe

#1 Post by ozeki » Fri Oct 10, 2008 8:43 am

Hi ... this is my first post here so be gentle with me !

I have a T41 exhibiting all the signs of GPU joint cracking. I have read many of the informative posts on this forum indicating how to fix this problem.

But being both ham-fisted and time constrained, I am seeking guidance as to who amongst this community may offer a repair service.

I am based in Switzerland at the moment, so that would be my first choice. But I also travel to the UK fairly frequently, so that would be a good alternative.

Any thoughts ??

Chris

Hi there!

There are 2 repair shops in Germany.

GPU flex fixing costs 100€ or 75€ if you are a student.

Welcome to the forum, Chris!

If you look in the thread t40 - 2 big problems and see the post of Wed Jun 18, 2008 4:52 am (and where it points to!) you will find a link to a fellow/place in Gloucester (near London, I believe) claiming to be capable of repairing "loose GPU" T4x motherboards.

Regrettably, I don't know of other such "motherboard repair-shops" anywhere in Europe. Beware that you can pick up an OK T4x motherboard for perhaps $100-150 on eBay/US (add to this shipping + import VAT), so you should consider what is cheapest: Repair or a new motherboard (also, consider and what is expected to give you the best/longest "warranty").

Just to clarify that Gloucester is 114 miles (183km) from central London. It takes about 2.5 hours to drive between the two. London Heathrow airport to Gloucester takes about 2 hours by car.

I can also list here cheap company in Poland.
I think they will also accept Central/East Europe orders.

Pricing? About ~$55 for gpu reflow (150 PLN) + shipping costs
