X30 Hard drive into an X40

#1 Post by qwertywraith » Fri Oct 10, 2008 8:54 am

I don't know much about computer hardware, but I've got an X30 that I spilled water on (it may still be fine).

Even if it does work I am thinking of upgrading to an X40 or higher, so I want to know if I can install the hard-drive from my X30 in an X40 (and vice-versa).

Also, do you have any recommendations on reputable dealers of off-lease Thinkpads or other places to get slightly older models?

mod note: moved from X300 forum to X30 forum.

Nope, does not work.

X30, X31, X32 = PATA 2,5"
X40, X41 = PATA 1,8"
X60, X61, X200= SATA 2,5"

So they are in no way interchangeable.
Own:
X22 (640MB, P3-M 800)
T61p (8GB, T7700)
X40 (1,5GB, PM738)

Sold:
380 (64MB, P233MMX)
A21m (256MB, Mobile P3 700)
T21 (512MB, Mobile P3 800
T23 (768MB, P3-M 1.13)
T41p (2GB, PM 1,7)

Thanks. I'll be considering my options for upgrading.
