Got a new T400 here. If I want to restore to the out of box state what do I need to know before taking the leap? I have done this a few times over the years with my T43, updating drivers and SW as a part of the process.
I seem to see some talk here that NOT ALL drivers are included on the factory restore image? I certainly don't want to cripple a working machine, however, sometimes while getting a new machine setup, it is just easier to start over after something goes wrong while tweaking stuff. Just wondering if there is going to be any pitfalls with the T400?
Also, I seem to have read here (or maybe at the Lenovo forums) that NOT all of the pre-installed software was burned to the restore image, anything to watch for there? Should I burn a backup of anything?
I am not talking a "clean" install here, just getting back to the way it left the factory.
TIA
SHG

Hello,
all driver and applications you´ll need, are stored at your hdd.
Look at C:\SWTools. Safe the folder.
Simply disable unwanted programs from autostart, with TuneUp Utillities and unwanted Vista services like shadow copy or indexing.
Then there´s no need to recover.
Vista will need one or two weeks, after you have installed your own software to get ready and fast.
Just be patient.
Regards
Andreas
