[T43] Some OSX86 questions

#1 Post by kai920 » Sun Oct 12, 2008 1:43 am

I successfully installed Kalyway 10.5.1 on my T43 (2668AH3). Out of the box, audio is working fairly well: keyboard volume + mute buttons work. headphone out works. have not tested mic jack. Restart & shutdown work great, but sleep does not.

1. I tried to enable two-finger scrolling on the trackpad using the big insanelymac thread, but was unsuccessful. My keyboard, touchpad and stick ended up not working at all and I had to do a reinstall. (so far I've already done 5 reinstalls!)

Has anyone gotten the 2-finger scrolling to work?

2. I haven't tried getting QE/CI working on the X300 Mobility. I've edited the boot file so that it boots to my LCD's native resolution of 1400x1050. What do you miss without QE/CI?

3. Having trouble with the 2200BG card from Intel. I got the drivers from http://code.google.com/p/iwidarwin/ and am typing this message via wifi. However it only works for me in unsecured / open hotspots. I cannot connect to WEP-protected routers - always get a bus error in networkSelector. Anyone got the 2200BG and connecting to WEP networks properly?

I heard Atheros is better supported in OSX, is this correct? Is there a recommended one that will fit and work best in my T43?

4. Finally, is there any hope of upgrading to 10.5.2 - .5?

THANKS!

I installed iDeneb 10.5.5 and then upgraded to 10.5.6 on T43 (2668).

1. I did not try to enable two-finger scrolling.
2. You need QE/CI for apple application (iWork). On my system opengl applications
crash (glxgears). Also some java applications fail to start correctly.
3. I had the same troubles with 2200BG Intel card. the iwidarwin driver was not
stable (and crashed Preferences). I first bought PCMCIA LinkSys WPC54G (3.1)
which works out-of-box. And now just replaced 2200BG Intel with SparkLAN
WMIA-207GN, which also works out-of-box.
4. Recommend iDeneb 10.5.6 fresh install
