Vertical bar volume indicator disappeared.

#1 Post by wisgro » Mon Oct 13, 2008 4:55 am

Uninstalled InCD and a number of programs and drivers were destroyed. (Nero revenge?) The vertical bar volume indicator graphic that used to display when I used the on board volume control buttons is gone. Also... chimes sound now at random times. (No it's not in my head.) Never heard them in all the years I've owned this laptop. Using the sound indicator now (beep, beep, etc.) but would rather have the graphic indicator working. Any advice for restoring the graphic volume indicator greatly appreciated. Using a T23. Already checked the config settings.

The drivers for my wireless card needed to be replaced. I replaced them. I don't know of any others that are gone. I'm thinking the on board volume control must be a resident IBM program. Either the program configuration was changed by uninstalling InCD or settings were changed but I don't know what to look for; haven't located the name of the program that controls the on board volume control buttons. Any ideas?

they are the hotkey drivers (includes OSD drivers) and you can find them for your model Thinkpad on the Lenovo website. First though, check to be sure that it just didn't get unchecked. In Control Panel go to Display - Properties - Settings - Advanced - On Screen Display tab, and be sure that On Screen Display is checkmarked.
