BAD_POOL_HEADER and constant blue screens
Hi,
getting the blue screen every bootup in normal mode, but not in safe mode. I've looked at the code for the error and see many people saying it is 90% related to memory.
0x00000019 (0x00000020,0x82729B08,0x82729B28,0x1A040001)
Is there anything definitive to check before I buy a replacemt memory chip?
ps. if it is memory, why no blue screen in safe mode???

Download and make a cd to boot memory diagnostics of mem86 or PCdoctor (not the xp version)
Run the tests on the memory and see what shows up, also run the mainboard diags.
Safe mode does not come up in full 32bit protected mode and does not load any unneccessary drivers / programs, uses much less memory.

If PC-Doctor and Memtest86 both pass, then chances are there is nothing wrong with your RAM. I'd try fooling around with msconfig. Turn off start up items first and see if you can eliminate something with it.

Note: It's not mentioned in the link above, but on the general tab of msconfig you can uncheck ALL startup items at once for diagnostic purposes.

I had similar problem and it was caused by a faulty wifi card (it was intel 2100B) - try to remove yours and boot.

I can see this problem running and running....
So,
MSCONFIG - unchecked all restarted - same error.
Uninstalled SP3 - same error.
Uninstalled everything except standard office adobe etc. - same error.
Ran registry cleaner - same error.
How do I run main board check?
What else can I do to diagnose, this was a pre-installed windows xp, so no idea how to run restore for it.
Thanks for all help so far!

The system board test is one of the options in the pcdoctor diagnostics menu. Might want to run the nondestructable HD diags as well just to confirm that possibility.
If you ran the memory diags from within xp and did not make a bootable cd for the downloadable iso, all the memory was not tested. If all the diags pass, things are pointing to a corrupt os.
Recovery can be made from the recovery cd set or the hidden partition if it is still intact.
What model thinkpad are you working on?
