ThinkVantage Access Connections Settings

#1 Post by jmuirhead » Tue Oct 14, 2008 1:02 pm

Hi all,

New here and just discovered these forums, so forgive me if this topic is well-covered ground in the past. I'm too new (and lazy) to look around and see if the answer is already here.

Am looking for the location (folder, file, registry key, etc.) where the location profiles and settings are stored.

Can anyone help with this?

We're hoping to discover this location, so it can be transferred from older ThinkPads to newer ones as a result of lease replacement cycles in our organization.

Typically, we replace hardware for our users every 3 years, and it would be very nice if we could migrate the user's wireless location profiles that they have accumulated over the previous 3+ years of travel, etc.

Thanks in advance.

John,

I don't know where they're stored by default, but it doesn't matter. Use the Export option in the Location Profile tab to export them, then import them on the new laptop.

Hmmm. Wasn't aware there are export options in the older versions of the software. The current 5.02 can export, but i thought the older versions (4.52 and 4.42) don't have export (or hide it well).

Will have to resolve to dig deeper. :-)

Thanks!
