hi there,
well some time ago i installed osx on my ex x40, loved the os, but in one moment of frustration i sodl the x40 and got a macbook black. whilst i love the os the hardware is not even close to what x40 used to be, so now i am seriously thinking to go back to the first love.
when i installed the osx on x40 i got everything working except the sleep,
speedstep(the cpu was to full throttle all the time) and the pcmcia card.
with the current x series do i have a chance to get an osx to run "natively"?
loved the portability of x40 so i want to go back there
like my favourite lens canon 24-70 same with the mac: love it optically (software wise) hate them phisically

My journey is same as yours. I need a Practical Mac UltraPortable. One that doesn't require sticking a tube up its [censored] every time you want to use the internet while on the go (MBA). Apropro MacBook Air, did you know that you have 300% more options of fashionable shoulder-carry-bags for notebook and rest of your junk, with 12" notebooks and lower than with a 13" one? Its a thin line. A design-aware company like Apple should know better.dorin wrote:c'mon, 247 vies and no reply? help me leave the mac world, seriously i would like nothing else than to run OSX on a X61s or any of the new 12" thinkpads...
please!!!!
For your question - X61s should OK for Leopard, considering you switch the Wireless card to a different $10 compatible card, or opted in for a ThinkPad abg Card when originally purchased, instead of 4965agn, and just as long as you're ready to put in the time to make it work. Bozilla on this forum wrote a good article on getting iAktos 10.5.4 (v4.0i) on T60P. You can start with this article but disregard ATI/Video and SpeedStep stuff. Plus, be sure to get iAktos v4.1i, which has the new SpeedStep kexts selectable from the installer.
One thing to note, most chances you won't be able to get the headphone/mic jacks to work, and might need a USB-addon for that.

thanks a lot for the reply and directions! i took once the time to make work on my ex x40 and it ran great, and by the way i had headphone working 100%, have no idea about the mike though...
to be honest as long as the wireless, video-headphones, sleep and speedstep are working i'm happy! well that's a fully functional mac in the end!
xmas sales here i come!
