anyone notice that X61t cpu only has X8 and X6 time bus speed 200(199.6)Mhz.????

Is that nomal??? or can it change to the multipe such as x8.,x6,x4??

AFAIK it's normal. These CPU are multiplier-locked. IIRC only the Extremes have unlocked multipliers.

The bus speed changes... I'm guessing it goes from 8x200 high to 6x100 low. I think you can set any multiplier (lower than 8 ) you want though (try RMClock).

Yes I consider using on battery the cpu clock can get slow down as possabile as it can when no task processing ,this can save battery's life.

Even I use the engine star the CPU clock always running @ 1.6Ghz (200x8) and 1.19Ghz @ 200x6 If it can go down @ 200x4=800mhz
is great, is that right? saving battery.

I will try the "CPU RightMark Lite 2005 v1.3" this is very nice software that I have never know it. I used to use the NHC

Keep in mind that many programs to not recognize the fact that the bus speed changes, and may show incorrect speeds.

Really, it already is at the lowest setting. As of the Core Duo, Intel locked the chips so there isn't any trick to going lower than the default settings let you (you used to be able to with the Pentium M). So the minimal setting is right there in the default IBM software, under the profile of "Maximum Battery" or similar.

The trick (with RMClock and such) still works though to reduce high speed power consumption (if you're running at 1.6).
