Audio heavy distorted-schematics needed

#1 Post by adiflorescu » Wed Oct 15, 2008 4:52 pm

I have a Thinkpad X61T Model no.7767-BFG.
This baby present a heavy distorted audio at high levels. The distorted audio is only on the right channel and is present on built in audio circuit.
The sound is OK but only at very little levels.
The distorsion is present on ANY software that uses audio passed via built in audio stage.
As I am an experienced electronist, I can identify the source of the malfunction by reading the schematics. unfortunately, i do not have any.
Also, i have the tehnology to work with small SMD components.
I kindly ask for:
-A exploded view of the computer, in order to disassembly in the correct manner;
-Any info about the audio final amplifier. (Where it is located, maybe what circuit is used!)

I give about 80% chances for a fault in the final stage and not in the audio DSP circuit.
Oh, the distorsion was there from the beggining but the notebook was in very heavy business use and I could not send it to repair. Till now, wasn't a big problem!
Thank you and please excuse my bad english.
Adrian

The best resource for taking the system apart and correctly putting it back together is the Hardware Maintenance Manual:

As far as I know, there have been no schematics released on any Thinkpad. I'd love some for the T2x, T4x and A3x systems if anyone does have them :) .

There is no separate audio amplifier. There is 1 audio chip that does everything - analog and digital.
