The right long fan?

As you can see in my sig, I've updated a bunch in my T40.

I have a long fan that is worn out and needs to be replaced...

however:

My fan seems different from other fans I've seen descriptions of. Where the section over the ATI video chip is, there is actually a few MM of copper their to bring it down to the level of the chip. Other fans I've read about have a big blob thermal goo instead of the copper square there.

Also, the fan has a sticker that says: S050413BN. Google returns nothing on this number.

The replacement part number I've found for this is 13N5442 - is this correct, or should I be looking for a different one?

If it looks like the fan in this EBay auction, then I'd say you've found the right part number.

The 13N5442 is quite an old model, and you may also want to try and find a new fan rather than used. You'll have better luck with FRU 13R2657, or even FRU 41W5204 (try direct from IBM). Here is a recent thread discussing the fans:

41W5204 looks to be the one I want. Mine did have the thicker heat pipe from the GPU.
