Another great IBM repair job...really!

#1 Post by underclocker » Wed Oct 15, 2008 10:14 pm

By far, the majority of my experiences with IBM EZServ have been good ones. I recently had another typical experience.

The backlight on my ThinkPad went out.

- called in the problem on Monday
- had the box on Tuesday morning
- returned the laptop to IBM EZServ the same day
- checked the status Wednesday afternoon via link emailed to me by EZServ
- it stated the repair was completed at noon and returned to the customer
- I had the perfectly repaired machine by 10 a.m. on Thursday

Unbeatable.

I'm curious - do you refer to experience with the service for their business lines, or consumer lines?

My most recent experience with EzServ left a lot to be desired, and I'm being nice here... :flame:

However, being that it's the first one that wasn't 1000% after dozens that were, I am cutting them some slack. And hoping that it stays an exception rather than becoming a rule...

Business line. At the time, Dell contracted out their service to various local companies. One time, when I was with Texas Tech, an actual IBM tech came out to fix one of our Dells.... weird.

I'm starting to fear the worst about the laptop I sent for repair last week. The tracking number I have doesn't give any arrival scan and Lenovo is unable to tell where is my laptop. Their system tells they didn't receive it, 3 business days after when it was supposed to arrive.

I hope I can say the same about EZserv - I've been laptop-less for 10 days while the depot was waiting for a fan and systemboard for my almost brand-new T400. They should have it back to me by the end of this week hopefully.
