Time required to run PC Doctor?

#1 Post by archer6 » Fri Oct 17, 2008 12:08 pm

A thought just came to mind, perhaps I will run PC doctor to see if it reports something other than a memory error.
Can anyone tell me about how long it takes to run on a 100GB HD, so that I may plan how long I will need to do this?

Thank You,
archer

I don't have any concrete numbers as I usually let it run overnight.

Terrific... that at least gives me an idea, as frankly I've never run it before and I did not know if it was a two hour project, or four hours or whatever. Any tips for me on running it, or how to interpret the results? Is it all pretty straightforward and self explanatory?

Thanks for your fast response.

Cheers

It's been awhile since I ran it the last time. So I don't remember exactly, sorry. But it never found any errors, or at least it didn't say anything about errors.

Edited to say: yes, it was pretty straightforward from what I remember. Sorry, I'm really fuzzy on the details.

After you run diagnostics ONCE, if you really want to know that your system is 100%, you'll run them a dozen more times, because that is more likely to catch any intermittent problems or overheat problems.

No idea how long that will take but "go out to dinner, go to bed, go away for the weekend" usually works.<G>

I certainly agree with your take on it. My OCD causes me to triple check my work anyway.... :D

There are multiple versions of PC Doctor. The newer the version in my experience the longer it takes. For the Windows version you can do other things while it is running for most of the test. For a CD/DVD test you'll need multiple disc as well as a data CD, audio CD, and DVD. If you are not there to input different disc it will stop and wait. My experience is it is interactive when it test the complete system.
