TABOOK weight specs

#1 Post by rgbyhkr » Fri Jun 04, 2004 7:38 am

I know everyone says that the TABOOK is the accurate source of info, but a few of the weight listings had me wondering. On the page where my awaited 2373-CYU is listed, it shows the weight for those models as 5.7 and 5.8 pounds. All models on that page are 15" displays with either the 40GB or 80GB HDDs, the ATI 9600 or 7500 and all look like they have the 6-cell battery. Now, on a later page that starts with model 2373-HVU, the 4 models there are 15" displays with the FireGL card, the 60GB HDD, and the 9-cell battery. The weight given for all those models is 5.4 pounds.

I realize that there may very well be differences various components but shouldn't the difference in battery weight be enought to at least make the models with the 9-cell as heavy or heavier than those with the 6-cell? I think I saw that the weight of the 6-cell is .72 pounds while the 9-cell is 1.06 pounds. That's pretty significant for a <6 pound notebook. Is it just a typo or is there something I'm missing?

Weight is one of the few inaccuracies of the TABOOK. I just weighed a T42p 15" unit with a 6-cell battery. It's 5 lbs 13 oz.

Yikes! That's over 5.8 lbs, 0.4 lbs. more than the 15" is "supposed" to be!

It's not bad. In fact, it's much lighter than it looks.
