FREE USB PORT!!! muhaha!

ok , this is already very well documented by so many others but i found some information that pulls it all together and wanted to give it to you guys so you could follow it too , this is not just for the T series oviously i found a page with all the relavent info here:

http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/UltraPort

im using pin 1 , 3 , 6 , & 7 ,

this site lists these model thinkpads with an ultraport :A20p, A21p, A22p, A30p, A31p T20, T21, T22, T23 X20, X21, X22, X23, X24

this ultraport is nothing more than a usb 1.1 port with a fancy connector , with a lil modification and a extra donor cable i soldered in an extra port and it works just peachy, this has oviously been done by a few other people , a few things to mention though is that i though of this idea because of tnkgrl's origianl hack of soldering on at the expansion port for a docking station , well according to what i saw on her walk through that took both ports ,

ive still got one in my device manager , i think i have a 4 port usb to pci controller ? im going to have to take a look.... cause i plug in two devices and two appear but under power options one still shows a free port ... intresting this is on a t20 btw...

i snapped two pics with my ppc 6800 but i dont know how to use this forum to upload them .... just to show you the crazieness , but then again i cant even remember how many fourms im a member of ...

i hope this helps others who need an extra usb port but cant affords a pcmcia card it works on all the models listed above
