as you guys can see , my mind goes too fast for the rest to keep up , ive found some information that may or may not be helpful to a list of owners which includes the t* series ,

Now this mod i THINK will work on the ultraport , AND the internal ,

now i cant confirm the 770X mod because i only have a port replicator that has one usb port not two , what i need is someone with a T/X/E series dock who is either willing to let me borrow it in the H-town area and dosent mind me cracking it open ,

or opeinging it and mock up a lil battery-test light like a 9v with light so i can go through it to find wires on the port to where the second usb port goes to the laptop , i have a t-20 so if i find it this mod should work on all t-20's

ow btw i have modded the ultraport on my t20 already and now have 2 usb 1.1 ports on my craptop, i have two pics of it i just gotta email them so that they can be uploaded to this fourm ,

now im not an expert at any of this by any means at all , but im willing to share what i know , and im starting to believe that most of these thinkpads from an ovious wide range of model numbers are being shipped with unused usb ports , and im too cheap to buy a usb pcmcia card so i cracked mine open ...

this could be put to wide use by many model owners ,

check your device manager usb hub power setting to see how many avalible ports you have !

haha , im spastic ... i didnt mean think , on the ultra port , i know for a fact that that works i just did it this morning , works like a charm , but i read somewhere else about it only getting 100 Ma and that seems to be about right cause i did this cause i wanted to use my extranl usb hdd which sucks power from usb and my cell at the same time for the evdo and all my other lil devices work great bluetooth wifi cellphone works on the modded ultraport usb interface, also theres a pic of that 770x having the usbport added into the case , guy musta done a lot of work to get that in there looking all professional like , i couldnt do that , i just have a cable right now hanging off the back of the lid, but it works is the point its a free usb port , but ive still got another one in the device manager that i want to try to access , and im planning on doing the connetion method at the docking station terminal similar as shown by the 770x pics , yet i have no docking station mine has one usb port and one firewire port , i have yet to test this firewire port to see if it will work on my t20 , chances are the fortune cookie was wrong. theres alot of informations missing from that origianl post , ive tried to get the info out on this site as to the extra usb ports but it seems ive got it all scattered accross three diffrent sections... ill round it all up later,

If all you are after is more powered USB ports, I just bought a nifty one on Newegg made by i-Rocks - it has 7 powered USB ports with one on top for maybe a thumb drive or card reader; non-slip base and comes with an AC power adapter for $19.99

sry thats what happens when i dont get any sleep , between working 40 hours a week and 15 hours this semester in skool , im lucky to get 4 hours a day ... and then try to add side projects in there and my lifes a freaking mess right now ...

i noticed in the device manager that after turning the ultra port into a secondary usb port that i still have an avalbile usb port , so im thinking that the same hack with the 770X applies here also , but since i dont have the replicator to trace the lines i dont think im gonna get very far with that one till i can find more information,

also i noticed that the extra usb port , while it dose work , it wont power my external usb 2.0 hdd , but the hdd works just kosher on the usb 1.1 port that came with the laptop , course ive never been able to get it to work even stringing it in diffrent combonations , just on the one port by itself , confused on that , must be the high speed isosincranious device error ive read that has to do with the actual chip itself ,


also i see one person wanted to look at the camera , i took a look at the ultra port sd card expansion port and am intrested in getting a hold of one , but it seems that this thing is gone , didnt see one on ebay , dose anyone know where i might be able to get my hands on a few of them ? id like to crack one open and gutt it then take my four port usb 2.0 hub and jam that inside it. somehow ... it would look prettier that way .. and it would also be able to be used on all those other models , sort of like an improvised hub that looks manucraptured ..

ow well , and i have a newer pic that looks better , i cleaned it up and then epoxied the cable to the back of the screen that way when im on a live cd my usb wifi adapter or my bluetooth adapter are just barely poking up over the screen , looks awesome to me ...
