Wireless Card Mystery

#1 Post by ni5l » Fri Oct 31, 2008 2:19 pm

Hi all. My R-61E has developed an odd behavior that I cannot seem to pin down with researching the forum so I am deferring to the forum members to help me solve this mystery.

Occasionally and without any rhyme or reason, my wireless card just "disapears". Trying to use wireless gets me a message saying there is no wirelss card installed.

If I shut down the switch on the front, reboot a couple of times and then power on the main switch and reboot again, eventually the card is found and all is well. Sometimes I have to go through this procedure several times, but it always comes back.

I will also lose connectivity if I put the machine into standby. The signal strength icon stays green, but I lose connectivity until I reboot. This thing has me about to pull what's left of my hair out.

The card is an Atheros b/g (according to windows) that came in the machine and it works perfectly.

Any ideas as to what might be the problem?

Remove then reinsert the wireless card. It is underneath the keyboard and attached with two screws. You may not need to detach the antennae.

Failing that, send EZServe a service request.
