WTB: 64mb EDO SODIMM and/or 2 32mb EDO SODIMMs

#1 Post by AlphaKilo470 » Sun Jan 09, 2005 8:31 pm

I'm looking to upgrade my ThinkPads for I've finally tired of the slow speeds, and I don't have the wallet to replace either one, and I'd like to trade both for a 600E or X laptop, but I don't think anyone would do that, so I'm going to try finding more RAM for my computers. I'm looking for 1 64mb EDO SODIMM for my 380ED and 2 32mb EDO SODIMMS for my 760E. I've looked around many places and the few EDO SODIMMS I do find just cost too much per megabyte, and normal 66mhz SODIMMS won't work at all in my ThinkPads. If anyone has any of the chips I'm looking for and would be williong to let go for a reasonable price, PM me.

Sorry for my delay. I'll be at work tomorrow and look for that memory as I promised before. I'll post again tomorrow after I find it and confirm it it's 32 or 64mb.

Thanks. If it's 64, that'll yeild good increase in performacnce in my 380. If it's 32, since I'd have to remove my 16mb chip first, it's be 16mb extra, but that'd also mean 16mb extra for the 760. Either way, since both computers get a good benefit from the chip being 64 or 32, I really don't care what kind it is. Oh, in case if you didn't notice, 2 weeks ago, I got another laptop for you to cringe at when you read the specs in my sig.

I got the 64MB EDO SODIMM for my 365x (P120) from www.kahlon.com for only $20 including shipping (US mail). Works perfectly, a pretty good deal I think.

Found the 32MB piece at work....but I don't think it will work (thought it would, sorry....says it's SODIMM, when I looked it up). Will fit ThinkPad 600, 770, TP i Series 1400, 1720, according the the description from the FRU on it. If this is still okay, let me know. Otherwise, I'll offer it for REALLY CHEAP to someone.

Have bought from Kahlon before and also from http://www.coastmemory.com/ without any problem. Usually compare prices and buy. With Coast2Coast Memory, the warranty is for life, so if you ever have any problems you can just send your memory back and they will exchange it. I had to do this once and they were really great about dealing with their customer after the sale. Your memory is $22.00 on this site...not sure if there is a charge for shipping or not, but you can check them out.

SODIMM is the layout of the chip, what I'm looking for is EDO. If it has that, I'll take it, but if not, sell it to someone else. Either way, thanks.

When I was checking the chip out, a person at work spotted me, and it happened to fit in his laptop and work, so it ended up going to him. Hope there's no hard feelings. Anyway, it ended up not being EDO, but PC-66.

Thanks anyway. No hard feelings, I've tried PC-66 in both my computers, doesn't work, so it would have been wasted here. Well, if anyone out there does have some 144-pin EDO SODIMMS that are 64 or 32mb and are willing to let go, I'll buy so long as the offering is within reason.

If someone has one for less than $20, that's a great deal. But I do believe Kahlon has EXACTLY what you're looking for (64MB EDO 144-pin SO-DIMM). And they have a guarantee (think it's lifetime, can't remember).

I believe they have the 32MB part (again, EDO, 144-pin SO-DIMM) for like $13.
