I think I have a bug with the power manger on my W500 (Running Windows Server 2003). Occasionally, the screen will blank like it should, but won't come back when I go to use the machine. It still responds, as I can get to it via network and use it, but the only way to get the screen back is to put the laptop to sleep and wake it up, or reboot it. Not sure if it does this on battery, but it definitely does on AC.
I would suspect a problem with the power drivers, but could it be a hardware problem? If so, what do I look for?

I have the same type of problem. My screen goes black after a period time after non-use and will not turn back on. I had to hard reboot to bring it back. Did you ever find a fix?
