Which DVD Burner for the T61

I want to upgrade to a DVD burner for my T61. Which one do I need? Thanks

Are you looking for and internal burner to use with your T61, or an external burner you can use with all your laptops?

There's only a few that'll work due to the slimness of the drives on the T series.

More details can be found via System service parts - ThinkPad T61, R61, R61i 14.1" widescreen (page updated 2008-09-26) and System service parts - ThinkPad T61, T61p 14.1" standard screen (page updated 2008-09-04), which lists the following DVD-RAM/RW drives as compatible with T61's:

Hitachi-LG (GSA-U10N) with FRU 39T2829 and Panasonic (UJ-852) with FRU 39T2851 and Optiarc (AD-7910A) with FRU 42T2501 and finally the TSST (Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology Corp.) (TS-U632) with FRU 39T2855. Detailed specifications for most of these drives can be found if going to www.ibm.com and entering the FRU number in the "Search-field" (upper, right corner).

These drives may e.g. be ordered via IBM's maintenance parts site or via the Lenovo Accessories & upgrades - more specifically the following page: Optical Drives - Notebooks.
