T40 2373 8CM questions

#1 Post by Derro » Tue Nov 04, 2008 7:51 pm

Okay so I have run chkdsk after having a Unmountable boot volume Blue screen error, and it got to 32percent and stopped saying something like 'problem with disk sections'.

When I try to boot it up off the hard drive it sounds like it is spinning fine I am still :!: awaiting a set of system recovery disks.
What is next and will I be able to get the data of this harddrive or is it time and game? I was going to install a faster/bigger hd anyway but Ideally would have cloned this one can I still do this how hard is it.

Alsothe computer is a 2373 8CM can wifi be installed internally on this?

and finally will this hd work in my T40 and is it an okay price newegg don't ship to UK so don't worry about that.

Thankyou

The drive that you've linked will work just fine.

For the wireless cards (any T4x unit an be set up with an internal card) check out the section 14 of this page:

I can't say whether you'll be able to clone the old drive, but it's certainly worth trying...

Hope this helps.

you can try copying the data in two ways - either an ultrabay HDD caddy, or a USB to IDE cable - with a connector for laptop ATA

i used the latter just two nights ago when i've transferred everything from my T30 to my TR451
ex: T30, TR451, TR453, R51, R52, X40, X60, R61, T400
X200 - P8600 2.66Ghz, 3G, 250G
G50-70 - 3558U 2.4Ghz, 4G, 1T
