I have two Crucial 1GB PC2700 SODIMM sticks. One is Samsung, the other MT. Just bought one from Fry's, the other I bought from a forum member about a month ago (who originally purchased from Newegg maybe 5 months ago). The MT has died, but I'm not 100% sure where it came from.
How can I tell which is the one I bought from Fry's? I have the sales receipt and package it came in, but I can't find any numbers on the box label that exactly match the numbers on the RAM label for either.
I want to return the dead stick for warranty replacement. But, first I have to determine where I bought it, so I can provide proof of purchase. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, does anyone have any experience with getting RAM replaced under warranty from Crucial? Was it difficult, easy, or what?
Edit: Well I went ahead and submitted a RMA request with Crucial for the dead part. We'll see what additional info they request, and whether or not it gets replaced.
Crucial RAM Serial/Model Number (for warranty replacement)?

Collection = T500 - R400 - X300 - X200 - T61 (14" WXGA+) - T61 (14.1" SXGA+) - T60 (15" SXGA+) - X40 - T43p - T43 - T42p - A30P - 600E
That's the thing you have to watch for. While many manufacturers offer a lifetime warranty, it's only for the original purchaser. So unless you can get the person that you bought it from (and they are the original purchaser) to submit the RMA, the lifetime warranty is no good.
Its similar to buying OEM equipment (hard drives, ram, dvd drives) often they have absolutely no warranty at all.
As to the original subject, I thought all Crucial ram was made by Micron. All of the Crucial ram I have bought from NewEgg has been Micron. Maybe someone else can add their experience. Thanks for the heads-up.

Well, I filled out the on-line RMA form at Crucial, it didn't ask for proof of purchase. Just product number and serial number. Got a RMA by email within a couple of hours. Sent the dead Micron chip in, and in less than a week, I got a new Samsung chip delivered in a UPS overnight envelope.
Way to go Crucial! That's customer service.
