Restore to factory - T400 gets 10 "File Not Found"

#1 Post by tbessie » Thu Nov 06, 2008 2:43 am

So I did a full factory restore from media using the system restore disks, on my T400. When it got to the very last stages, however, when a bunch of messages were scrolling by on a text console, about 10 times it beeped, and before it scrolled away, I saw "File Not Found" about some files it was trying to copy.

This seems highly worrisome to me. Is anybody else getting this?

Did windows install successfuly? Or did it give you errors and promt you how you want to continue?

I have seen several types of errors during these installations. I THINK (not sure) that it is because Lenovo creastes a generic install for every T400, but since hardware configurations are different, some things may not be found and cause a harmless error.

If you did get errors that promted you how to continue or caused windows problems, I had a similar situation with my first T400. It ended up being the hard drive.

It is not a serious problem as far as the restore process can get to its end. I've noticed that previous restore program in Thinkpad T4X/T6X reported missing files too.

Thanks all - yeah, I haven't had any notable problems after the restore, so I suppose those messages can be safely ignored.
