I have noticed on ebay that celeron M CPU's tend to sell for around $10-20 for the 2+ghz models. These would be faster than my Banias 1.5ghz I would assume.
Here is the intel spec sheet for one of these CPU's http://processorfinder.intel.com/detail ... Spec=SL73Y
Is the planar motherboard compatible with these CPUs, and does the IBM bios recognize the microcode stepping of the celeron M CPUs?
Has anyone tried this?

Re: Celeron M Compatibility?
I can't speak about the microcode on these Celerons, but another factor that you might want to consider is looking at an inexpensive Dothan instead. Up to 1.7Ghz versions seem relatively inexpensive these days and you get a L2 cache that's 4 times the size of the Celeron. I'll bet that the "feel" of the machine will be snappier with a slightly faster CPU with a MUCH bigger cache than a much faster CPU with a smaller L2, since for most normal tasks, the CPU basically sits around waiting for data to crunch anyway.ryan1212 wrote:I have noticed on ebay that celeron M CPU's tend to sell for around $10-20 for the 2+ghz models.
