Help ThinkPad T20 Locked Up

#1 Post by ZaZ » Tue Nov 11, 2008 12:04 am

Someone gave me an old T20 to look at because it froze and when they rebooted it, they got this

I assume it's some sort of BIOS password, but I've no idea what it would be. Blank doesn't work. Anyone have clue as to how to fix this, maybe pull the CMOS battery or something along those lines? Thanks for any help.

That indeed is the icon you will receive when there is a BIOS (supervisor) password set. Removing the CMOS battery will do no good and in fact, if you are always seeing this lock icon whenever you power up the system, it has already been removed at least once or is dead.

Unfortunately, due to the rules of this forum, public discussion of any method to bypass or remove this password is prohibited.
