I know it was stupid, but i did it anyway!

I just picked up from Ebay an R50 1.4 Centrino machine for $32.00.
It was supposed to be dead, but it does power up, just no display. It had a password that I needed to get by. Since i have an R40 that had the same problem, I tried the same fix. Now i get an error message that the unit has been tampered with, and it shuts off. Is this the kiss of death for this machine? Again, I bought it for some parts, but it would be nice if it did actually work properly. Maybe it could be a media server or something. Any help here? It would be greatly appreciated as I am a noob here. I searched the site and found no previous posts on this topic. Thanks in advance.

The only fix is replacing your motherboard.

I am back to the laptop asking only for a password. The tampering message is now gone. Any hopes once it is back to this stage?

Per forum rules, any public discussion about subverting supervisor passwords is not permitted on this site. Brad has already given the only advice that is allowed.
