Touch screen in T60p?

#1 Post by blynch » Fri Nov 14, 2008 2:08 am

I'd love to have tablet capabilities on my T60p, is this at all possible? If so where can I find a proper screen and what will it cost me?

I search and did not find anything, so I am not too optimistic, but I figure if they can add these to macbooks why wouldn't you be able to stick one in a a T60.

I'm sorry to say that it can't be done, for a variety of reasons, one of them being that you've got to have a motherboard that supports pen functionality...

It is not possible with factory or third-party retail options or customizations.

If you really wanted, a one-time project to make this is theoretically possible, although there would be many problems to solve (finding a 15" 4:3 tablet screen, making it fit within the bezel, cable routing, stuffing a digitizer control chip somewhere in the case off the top of my head). You'd be probably looking at close to the laptop's value in terms of price. If you wanted to have the tablet-like swivel as well, it'd run into thousands of dollars.
