T61 Typical Battery Lifes

#1 Post by Fakenjones » Fri Nov 14, 2008 7:40 pm

Hey,

I'm a new T61 owner (well technically it doesn't arrive till Monday) and this is my first post on the forum.
I'm looking to order another battery, either from lenovo, or the marketplace here.
However, I'm in sort of a conundrum as explained below.

After doing much reading on the thinkpads and other forums, I wasn't able to find a definitive answer to how the relative battery sizes stack up in terms of real performance.
According to Lenovo, on the 15.4 inch model: 6 cell = 5.5 hrs, 9 cell = 8.3 hrs. However, I'm pretty sure these numbers are very bloated.

Would someone kindly provide real run times for these battery options (6 cell vs 9 cell). I realize this is computer specific, but any numbers would be helpful.

My laptop is as follows:

T61 C2D T8100 2.1GHz
15 inch Wide, 2GB RAM,
DVD/CD-RW, Intel Kedron 802.11
Integrated Video Card
USB Micro Bluetooth Device
9 cell battery.

Thanks in advance,
Faken Jones

With integrated graphics, those numbers probably aren't too far off. My W500 (15.4") gets about 8 hours (switched to integrated graphics) from a 9 cell with the screen dimmed fully. Theoretically, 5.25 hours from a 6 cell would then make sense. My father's 14.1" 4:3 T60 (integrated graphics) gets about 5 hours on a 6 cell with the screen on moderate brightness. Dimmed it would probably get close to 6.

I have had my customized T61 with 15.1 wide screen for one week. I am well pleased with it's operation.

Battery Life

#7 Post by Fakenjones » Wed Dec 03, 2008 6:00 am

Hey,

So... Using my computer on `MAXIMUM BATTERY LIFE`and Battery Stretch activated, I can push approximately 6.5-7 hours, reading documents, email, pdfs etc (i usually have about 20 different files open at any time along with 5-10 different taskbar icons).

I`ve got to say this blows my older Inspiron 4150 10 minute battery to smitherines.

Sincerely,
Faken

PS: I own a C2D T8100, 2GB, 160GB, Integrated Video Card.
