I had forgotten how awful "other" keyboards are!

On impulse I bought a (name brand) keyboard from a going out of biz store. Price was good, and it worked pretty well right out of the box, even as a wireless USB device.

But, oh the unpleasantness! Spongy, and unresponsive, and not even close to the good old ThinkPad keyboards.

My last external keyboard was an Avant Prime keyboard used on a desktop nearly 10 years ago.

I guess you can call me spoiled by the ThinkPad keyboards on my R series and T series machines!

Indeed... I am typing this on a rather flexy and hideous keyboard on one of my schools gateway laptops. My Thinkpad is in my bookbag taunting me.

Don't look at me. I kept using a (Logitech-made) keyboard from an IBM model 70 for over ten years until I got a ThinkPad model 21 and decided the keyboard was just as good. Since then I've adopted both the Dvorak typing method and the Microsoft split keyboards as my every-day use devices.

Fortunately, the ThinkPad keyboards are still comfortable for me, but I can't stand typing on a cheap "wedgy" keyboard like comes from HP and Dell these days.

I actually wonder about this. I'm so at home slapping the keys on the (unreliable) ergonomic MS keyboards that I wonder why I'm still so good with the ThinkPad.

How ridiculous is it that a notebook has a better keyboard than a +$1000 desktop? (Or then again, maybe not. The keyboard keeps us buying ThinkPads.)

I rather like the one on my Toshiba, very crisp feeling.

I like my Thinkpad keyboard enough that when I replaced my last laptop, I stopped using the USB keyboard. Then again, I am very fussy about keyboards. I use a 13 year old IBM Model M on my desktop. Only keyboard I've ever owned that is too heavy to slide around while typing (excluding whole laptops, of course).

I currently have a Microsoft Laser Desktop Keyboard 6000 V2 on my desk at home. It is probably one of the best keyboards I have ever used. The keys are soft, but yet crisp when pressed. The layout is slightly curved to help ergonomics. I can type really fast on that keyboard. Still the best keyboard I have ever used is an IBM Model M.
