How do you undervolt a T43 processor?

#1 Post by marcus8218 » Sat Nov 15, 2008 9:15 pm

Hey guys,

This is a question that i think alot of people are asking. How can i undervolt a T43 1.86GHZ to save battery life? People have been saying "Use NHC" and if i install it there is an option to undervolt, but there are all types of numbers and values that need to be set and i have no idea what to do. I havent tried because if i do and i stuff it up, that could be it for my T43 (even though its under warrenty). So if there is anyone who has any tips & tricks on how to undervolt, i and probably alot of other people would greately appreciate it if you could share your knowledge with us. Ive got an IBM T43 2668-4DM, 2.5gb ram, windows xp professional, and i just got a new battery from lenovo's battery recall center which is a sanyo 4.8ah battery, but with wireless off, brightness full down, 800mhz i still only get 3 hours max, and i would like to have about 3.30 to 4.30 hrs.

Thanks again guys!! :D

To the of best my knowledge, there is no simple, magic tool that will allow you to extend your battery time without some slight effort of the user (in this case: You!). It would be nice, sure, if some tool existed that would only required you to click "Install" and then that's it. However, no such tool exist - but Notebook Hardware Control (NHC) in my opinion comes fairly close. If you don't want to spend time setting up NHC, then see alternative suggestions in the sticky GUIDE: New Owners, steps to get the most from your system!

The following threads will help guide you through setting up NHC; it is not hard at all, just follow the description, and take your time: T43 operating temperature (see the post of Wed Mar 05, 2008 4:06 pm especially pointing to GUIDE: How to max out your battery life). Additional information is available in the thread T43p excessively hot (see the post of Wed Jul 16, 2008 1:09 am).

You may also extend your battery time by getting an UltraBay battery.
