240X BIOS update question

#1 Post by emeu1 » Mon Nov 17, 2008 5:00 am

Hello,

my 240X arrived today. It has BIOS Version 1.03. Before installing an OS, I first want to upgrade to the latest BIOS release (1.09). Question: the supervisor password is set on my 240X, and I, nor the seller, know the supervisor password. The power on and hard disk password are not set. Can I still do the BIOS update or will the BIOS update ask me for the supervisor password?

Kind regards,

Erik

Password first, anything else comes second.

Thanks for the answer Tim.
With some soldering and software I managed to retrieve the supervisor password from the 240X.
Entered the supervisor password and removed it.
So the BIOS is now clear of passwords and I could enable the serial and parallel ports (which were disabled) and change the order of the boot device's.

In the meanwhile I saw that the BIOS was already at version 1.03.23. I mistakenly thought the latest BIOS version was 1.09. (I swapped the diskette version with the BIOS version).

Kind regards

Erik

does anybody know how i can update my BIOS software without the floppy disk drive and/or a CD-ROM drive?

i have a 240x i thought would benefit from having the last BIOS version.

none of the old posts i've found (re: TP600E) can help...
