Which R series thinkpad was the first to use SATA hard drives instead of EIDE? I've been poking around through the usual channels for used laptops, and I would like my next one to use SATA drives since the EIDE drives are getting hard to find.
I'm seeing a variety of R4x, T4x, T5x, and R5x laptops that I'm pondering...
First SATA model for the R series?

R60. It also had the Core cpu platform (note that Celeron models can be upgraded to Core Solo or Core Duos).
The Z60m/Z60t were the first ThinkPad with the new SATA drives and 20v AC adapter. These actually had the older Pentium M cpu platform (like T43's). (Note that Celeron models accept 533MHz bus Pentium M cpus.)

A-ha!
That is useful to know. Being as I have yet to find a 2.5 EIDE drive over 250gb, I am looking for a system with 2.5 SATA so I can have a very large main HD.
I guess these ones that I've been seeing so far won't cut it, then.
The ultrabay is a useful thing to know about, but I would prefer to use only one HD in a laptop, rather than having two spinning platters pulling down power while booted.
thanks!
