ABGN wireless for t43?

#1 Post by killer » Wed Nov 19, 2008 6:30 pm

I have searched the forums to see if anyone has asked this before and couldn't find anything.

My router has wireless abgn. Apparently 'n' gives a much better signal.

My T43 (1871-FWG) and my wife's T43p (2668) have abg compatibility.

Is there any way to upgrade these via H/W or S/W to abgn?

I look forward to any replies.

It is much harder to get around the BIOS white list in the T43 and there are no factory 11n cards available. The no-1802 utility doesn't work on the T43. So best option is a USB or PC Card NIC.

You also have the option of the express card slot. The T43 has 1 express & 1 cardbus slot.
Depending on if your router is a draft n or pre-n model, be sure to get the matching card or you may have speed problems.
Go with an express or cardbus card.
I would pass on the usb adapter.

Yes, it's hard to upgrade to nonstandard internal wireless on the T43, but it's possible. The situation is similar to the T60, there is a thread regarding that in the T60 forum.
