what printers R U using with your T21's???

#1 Post by Ogg » Wed Jan 12, 2005 1:25 pm

I am not having much luck in getting a Lexmark X74 (all-in-one) to cooperate with my T21 (WinXP). Using USB port on laptop. Scanning seems to work fine! But printing stalls at about the 10% point in the transfer window, and then the printer seems to go into a fit: excess paper spews out, but nothing prints. I have installed the latest drivers for the printer. No improvement.

I am hoping that a 4-port USB 2.0 PCCARD will help the situation.

If anyone has some tips, I'd appreciate it!

Menanwhile.. I am wondering what printers are some of you using with your T21's??? Perhaps, I could simply get the same printer and avoid further guessing.

I have a T42p running WinXP and my wife has a job-issued T21 running Windows 2000.

We have an HP Officejet 6100 "all-in-one" inkjet printer bought from Costco that is attached to an older Dell desktop that we use as a kids computer and print server. We have a wireless LAN and do all the laptop printing on the HP 6100 through the wireless connection via windows printer sharing. It works flawlessly printing anything sent from any of the three computers.

My son has an HP/LJ1100 connected to the port replicator of his T21 upstairs in his bedroom. In addition, we all have access to the HP/LJ6MP (LPT1) and HP/DJ7660 (USB2.0) connected to my desktop via our 11b network. We also all have access to the HP/LJ3500 color laser (Router Port) in my wife's office via our 11g network.

I would hope that the USB2.0 PC card solution will help you.

Should I have mentioned the ancient, but still going strong, Panasonic KX-P4420 connected to my shop workstation?

Or the HP/LJ4L connected to the port replicator in our bedroom?

With three of us having home offices we actually make use of all of them. When you live in a relatively large, multi-level home, saving a trip up or down the stairs just to get a sheet of paper saves a lot of wear and tear. Especially when you're old and decrepit, like me! Or you! :P

Hmmm... Looks like HP is the most popular here! Thanks for the responses. VERY interesting setups some you have with all the wireless networking!

Meanwhile, Lexmark techsupport has emailed me and has provided some things to try, specifically making some protocol adjustments in how the spool driver works. I will be trying those things later today.
