Some advice on a ThinkPad X200s 7466-3SG
Hi guys,
I would like to buy the ThinkPad in the title. After some time spent in research I must say that I didn't find so much.
So, the specifications should be these:
TS/Thinkpad X200s Intel Core 2 Duo SL9400, 2GB RAM, 250GB HD, TFT12.1WXGA (1280x800), Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD, BTH, FPR, 5in1 MediaCard, Mini-PCIe, Camera, WWAN Ready, Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN,VB, 7466-3SG, 3Ycarryin (incl DVD recovery XPP)
NS23SIX - 1652069
But I cannot find that machine in the Lenovo web-site. My main questions are:
1. Anyone has an idea about the quality of the LCD panel mounted in this machine (viewing angle, brightness, sharpenss, etc.)?
2. Is the 4-cell battery lasting up to 5/6 hours in normal usage with Wi-fi?
3. Is it possible to mount an SSD drive afterward?
4. Is it really 1.1 Kg?
5. Is it Montevina?
6. Is the RAM running at 1066 Mhz?
7. What about the loudspeakers quality?
8. General usage impressions...
If you have any advice please tell me something.
Cheers, Cec

Mmm, ok..
With "horrible" you mean: not sharp, bad viewving angle, bad luminosity or what?
Do you know anything about the Dell Latitude E4200? 12.1"? I was wandering which one of the two machine has a better LCD..

You may want to find another configuration with the 1440x900 LED screen. It's brighter and higher contrast.
My wife has a USA-spec X200s with the LED screen. 4-Cell battery lasts about 2 hours. RAM is DDR3 1066mhz. It's one speaker but the Ultrabase has 2 speakers. Very nice laptop. If it had a webcam and WWAN, I would dump my X301.

Unfortunately I don't think so: looking carefully at the specs in a seller website I didn't find any reference to the LED backlit, while looking to another model of X200s (1440x900) I found the "Backlit LED" specification....FredGarvin wrote:I thought all the X200s used the WXGA+ LED screens?
Good to know for the SSD.

Hi,
the one I'm gonna buy (please see the specs in the first post) is 1280x800 and I think that is not LED backlit.
This is VERY important for me: if it's not LED I will buy something else I think. Do you think, in general, that all the 7466-xxx have the same screen? Where can I find more detailed info?
C.
EDIT: Hey guys! I think I found something!!
Could this be the one? http://www5.pc.ibm.com/europe/products. ... esite=cema
Does it have the LED backlit?

...well, because as far as I understood (also because of your comment) it seems that non-LED displays are very bad. Isn't it?Puppy wrote:Why ?Cecilia76 wrote:This is VERY important for me: if it's not LED I will buy something else I think
Moreover I think that battery life is better with LED.

I don't know what to tell you. Maybe they have some different models over there in Europe. The description says Screen illumination: Backlit. Could just be a typo too. These things have a way of spreading when an error is made in one place. Maybe you're best course of action would be to call Lenovo and find out for sure. They should know.

Re: Some advice on a ThinkPad X200s 7466-3SG
Hello Cecilia,
I have some early experience with exactly that model. So far, I cannot see any reason to be overly critical about the screen, to me it is acceptable. Actually brighter as my T60, less "yellowish" colors, viewing angles less good, but sufficient. With DPI set to 120 p., cleartype font edge, and, of course, back to XP, no Vista, this is what I need to get a quite comfortable viewing. I may post more critical remarks later, once I get more usage-days with this puppy...

No, that's just nasty marketing trick. Current notebook displays are crap in general regardless of what backlight type it uses. No difference in terms of quality, it is still horrible TN panels. Some LED backlight notebook panels are even worse than other CCFL ones. Lenovo uses the cheapest and ugliest panels possible (X300 or T400 Samsung ones are great example), if you are looking for so-so acceptable notebook display you would have to look elsewhere. That's the only valid point regarding LED backlight.Cecilia76 wrote:Moreover I think that battery life is better with LED.
