A20m screen problems - reddish/disappearing
I'm posting on behalf of someone else, who does not have an account in the forum.
He has a screen problem with his A20m. At some point the screen started showing glitches - flickering, disappearing backlight, red hue (not pinkish tint, but rather everything looking red).
Sometimes applying pressure to the screen would fix the problem, but not anymore. Now it seems that the screen is completely blank, except sometimes when he types on the keyboard it comes back briefly, with the red hue.
What do you suppose it might be? Backlight? Inverter? LCD logic board? Is it determined or can it be one of a few things?
Thanks.

Definitely the CCFL/backlight needs to be replaced.
Other things to check: loose/worn LCD cable at either back of LCD or onto mobo, loose/bad inverter.
May be easier to replace the whole LCD or even the whole lid.

I'm confused.
You say "definitely the CCFL needs to be replaced", but also check for bad inverter.
Can it be that it is only the inverter and the CCFL is OK?
I agree that if the CCFL is broken, which basically forces one to replace the LCD, might as well replace everything, cause the price difference will be small.

Like I said, he will need to replace the CCFL.
There may also be some of the other symptoms, but none of those will solve the red hue.
You can check on them while taking the LCD out for repair/replacement.
In the meantime, tell him to use an external monitor until the LCD is sorted.
