Changing T23 BIOS Password if forgotten

#1 Post by kwgpc » Sat Nov 22, 2008 11:18 pm

I'm a PC repair shop and this is the first time I ran into this problem concerning an IBM thinkpad.

Someone gave me a T23 today ....one of the reasons for doing that is that he can not access the computer because someone put a password (supervisor) into the bios....

He got it from his old job (he worked at a local IBM company)
cause they were throwing them out.

anyway...I need to get into it...so I can re-install windows on it...but can't due to the password.

Does anyone know a sure-fire way to delete the password, or bypass it somehow?

I've heard that IBM machines are the kind that it's almost impossible to delete it...not sure if its true.

Just to let you know, I believe the forum rules preclude the discussion of any ways to defeat the embedded thinkpad security features, for obvious reasons. I think it is mentioned somewhere in the forum rules section.
Do a search on password or supervisor and you will get the idea.
And .. welcome to the forum

Sorry, buddy, no dice. Google your issue, because you won't get an answer here or on any other forum of this nature.

Good luck.

Look...correct me if I'm wrong here...but is it not to help others, the reason for this forum or any forum for that matter ?

if it is not, then what is the reason for this forum?

You are wasting your time, along with this forum's space and bandwidth.

No help shall be given for issues like this.

You're not the first nor shall you be the last.

Good luck.

Yes, this forum (and others like it) exist to help out people with issues relating to their systems. However, this forum has taken a stance that discussions on how to break security systems that have been put into place to protect owners from possible theft will not be allowed.
