T41 video card problem?

#1 Post by webearth » Mon Nov 24, 2008 10:33 am

My laptop can't display properly as soon as I start it up. Random color is displayed and changed on the screen even if I tried to enter BIOS. I can't do anything since I can't see any icon or task bar on my screen even if I know my OS is working. It was caused by running a 3D graphics program which led to blue screen at first. I hooked it to a external minotor and got the same problem (apparently it is not the problem of monitor).

What is the problem with my laptop and how to fix it up?

Can anyone giving me a hint?

Thanks!

i would start at the simplest things first..
and work my way through to the most disruptive as a last resort..
start be taking a close look at the video settings..
then maybe reloading the video drivers..
and if that does not help, then look to a system restore from a system backup or, worse case, an entire OS restore from the predesktop or recovery CD set..

GPU reflow required. Try to press area on the keyboard above the GPU. Maybe it will (just temp.) help - this will be a clear mark of problem with GPU<->motherboard contact.

Can you tell me where I should press on Keyboard to try to press GPU? I don't know where GPU is located inside.
