Anybody using RmClock to undervolt?

X60/X61 series specific matters only.

Anybody using RmClock to undervolt?

#1 Post by aceo07 » Thu Nov 27, 2008 12:44 am

What version of Windows are you using and processor?

I'm using Windows Vista Business and have a L7500 processor and I'm getting not great results from RMClock when undervolting.

It only lets me drop down to 0.9v. I've seen other people drop down much lower, but it doesn't even give me the option to set the voltage lower.

On FID 6x, it's already set to be 0.9v and I can't set it lower. So I don't gain any advantage there.

At FID 8x, I can drop it to 0.9v and that helps but I'm usually not maxing my cpu for too long.

This mean that even on SuperLFM, the 600mhz range, it will still use 0.9v. The cpu is supposed to normally use much lower in this mode. However, since RMClock thinks 0.9v is the lowest, it's actually using more power in this mode.

So, I'm just curious to see who else using RMClock and what their results were.

It just completed a 12hour Prime95 torture test with small FFTs with no problems and temp at 71c. This was using 0.9v at 8x.

Definitely want to see how I can drop it even more.

SuperLFM should let you go down to .85v somehow, maybe the option's somewhere else.

Voltages like 0.7v are no longer possible on newer Intel cpus. Thanks to Intel, the lowest frequency cannot be undervolted (your cpu already does .85v by default), you can only undervolt the higher frequencies.

This is a real shame. I have an X300 and I was really looking forward to undervolting to around 0.7V, like I used to to my old Toshiba which was a Dothan 1.6GHz.
