5k vs 7k HDs

#1 Post by astpaul » Thu Jan 13, 2005 10:14 am

Hi,

My T42 was shipped with the 5k80GB HD. I use as a startup disk and am thinking on purchasing another disk in order to have more space.

I am considering two options and due to my lack of technical knowledge i kind of need some help to choose:
- i can purchase a 7k60GB HD and put it as primary but then what would be the speed advantage i'd get compared to the 5k80GB?
- i can buy an external 120GB disk and use it through the USB2 port as a secondary drive (by the way, are they powered ports?), which would a lot cheaper option.

As i find my current drive a little slow, is the 7k option would a enhance a lot my experience ?

:)
