"Recondition Battery Now" does not work

Since my battery health in my brand new 7800 batterypack in my T42 is falling sharply, I guessed I'd try the "Recondition Battery Now" button in the battery manager app that I downloaded off Lenovo's site.

However, clicking this button does not do anything. It does not start discharging or reboot in some other mode to actually discharge... It just sits there and does nothing.

Any ideas? Perhaps this option is just not available on the T42?
