how can i re install system without cd rom?

i have a x60s

no dock station

and the only way to reinstall system is restore xp from local hard drive

but i want to install another veriosn of xp, how could i do that?

If the OS on your current drive is working you can share the optical drive in your T42 over a LAN and install XP that way. You can also use a specially prepared USB stick. Google should get you going either way.

Or the obvious - buy or borrow an external USB CDROM.
