Will this R40 LCD fit in R5x or T4x Lid?

#1 Post by RealBlackStuff » Sat Nov 29, 2008 10:05 am

I've got a brand new 14.1" LCD with a bunch of part numbers on it.
Among them:
BL P/N 07K8440 (supposedly new for R40)
P/N 07K8413 (supposedly refurbished for R40)
11S07K8470Z1Z64P807532 (presumably IBM serial number)
ITXG76H (IDTech number ?)
EC: F79342

It has the inverter attached to it at the bottom, using a metal strip.
On it is a sticker with A32A0LD4H.
Found the P/Ns of the inverter: LTN141X8-B and K021045.00
This inverter apparently belongs to a Dell Inspiron 4100/4150, or a Latitude C600/C610/C640 etc.

Could I take that inverter off and replace it with a T4x or R5x inverter?
I can remove the metal inverter bracket.
The above LCD does fit in a 14" T4x or R5x. The screw holes on the short sides match.

PS: if the above will fit in an IBM, we have a new cheap source of 14.1" LCDs
Dell LCDs are a lot cheaper than IBM LCDs!
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

I don't have a definitive reply for you, but based on some posts on putting a 14.1" Dell 4100 QXGA screen into a IBM T4x, it looks like the key is the connector on the panel itself. If it will fit the correct IBM cable, then it'll probably work. In any case, if it turns out the the panel works (both physically and electrically), then you've indeed stumbled on the mother lode of cheap replacement screens.

If some particularly OCD member had the time and access to parts, was able to do a parts list grid, it would be a great resource!
