A nibble . . .
Please let me know the new price and send any pix (either here or via message). I had a T41 with SXGA screen and found it was too small although clarity was a plus. Any predictions on how I'll enjoy UXGA if all I do with the box is typing and very light-weight graphics?
Thanks
David

David,
I went to an identical T42p after purchasing your T41 and the UXGA is something you must see to understand. Even if you do the tasks mentioned, it's great to see how much of a web page or how many icons can fit on the screen at once. This doesn't even address the difference in quality as well.
You won't be disappointed in the least.

but be aware that the character size is smaller than the 14' SXGA+..
it will be perfect for your graphics work..

LPC,
Please let me know the price drop also. I might be very interested for the right price. I am looking for a second machine to use as an Internet station, plus to watch occasional DVD movies. I'm hoping the dead pixel won't be too noticable. While 500 sounds fair for the machine, alas it's steep for me based on the reality of my budget right now, so a price drop may just do the trick. Incidentally, I've met with Bill Morrow in person and he can vouch for me. All the best,
Inky

Nice to be back! I notice we BOTH moved to another state in the past year. Cool. I see you and LPC are both in Georgia. Maybe I'll come an visit sometime. I bet the parrots miss the steamy tropical jungle alcove you were enjoying before.
Anyway, back to the topic...the T42p sounds good, but I'm waiting to hear if the new price is affordable for me.
Btw, Bill, would you believe I STILL have that polaroid Sprintscan slide scanner, unopened in the original box! I should've sold it to the Frenchman way back when! Later,
Inky

Just to clarify, as two people have asked for the price reduction. It was reduced from $525shipped to $515shipped and is now at $500shipped.Inky wrote:LPC,

inky..
i think $500 is a fair price for that T42p but i know you are severly constrained fiscally..
keep in mind the T42 was kinda the sweet spot for that series..
maybe you can find an R50p..
it is the T40p (or T41p, i forget) guts with the UXGA flexview display..

Yes, as you know I have a T42 and it is sweet. I like that it's a lean & svelte ThinkPad, so I've been hoping to retain that quality when I get a 15 incher. The R series is a bit of an oinker by comparison.BillMorrow wrote:inky..

I hear what you're saying about $500 being a fair price. Looks like I'll just have to keep saving my pennies. Thanks,
