New T60p owner - USB issue and HD question

#1 Post by jingorm » Sun Nov 30, 2008 12:58 am

Hello,

I recently switched from an X60t to a refurbished T60p for the IPS display, extra screen real estate (UXGA), and keyboard (although I miss the lighter weight). I have a few questions about the machine.

1. one of the USB ports on the (upper) right side appears to power external hard drives and my Sprint USB modem, but the machine does not appear to recognize whatever is plugged into that port. The peripherals work fine when plugged into the other two ports. Is there a way to fix this through software or is it a hardware issue?

2. Can the T60p be upgraded to use an SSD drive?

3. My wife's T61 and my X60 tablet both use the Lenovo 65w AC adapter. My T60p came with a 90w AC adapter. Are they interchangeable since they are all 20w or is there a reason the T60p needs a 90w adapter?

thanks in advance for all your help!

That is a very nice upgrade, congratulations!

1. hardware problem. Call EZserv.

2. Yes. Any 2.5" SATA SSD should work. The Samsung 1.8" that is used in the X300/1 can be used with the Lenovo adapter which converts this 1.8" mini SATA drive to a 2.5" drive.

3. They are interchangable and 100% compatible. Your T60p may not charge the battery as fast on the 65w adapter. The 90w adapter is specified for your T60p because of its discrete graphics.
