How to install 1GB Intel Turbo memory for X61 ???

#1 Post by ludu35 » Sun Nov 30, 2008 9:02 pm

Hi all
1GB Intel Turbo memory is very cheap right now and I would like to get one for my X61, but before buying it, can someone please help me to LOCATE the slot for that memory module and how to install it.

Mine is X61, 7673-4NU, Vista 64-bit 4GB ram.

Thanks all in advance

Remove the memory cover.

Look for the silver container.

Thanks Brad,
I located that miniPCI slot already, and it is not that silver container under memory cover (what is that container for anyway?)

Anyway, my second question. Will that miniPCI slot accepts 2GB or 4GB Intel Turbo memory?

Thanks

Sorry I don't know what I was thinking.

After reviewing the HMM I don't see a listing for what that slot is for. I also don't see anything regarding capacity of the Turbo memory.

The HMM can be found here.

I believe the silver holder under the memory access hatch is for a Wireless WAN SIM card.

The Turbo Memory in fact goes in the Mini-PCI slot.

Are you sure you want to go with Turbo Memory?

I had 1GB installed in my X61T, it worked fine for a bit, but it conflicted with a hybrid hard disk, and caused lots of crashes.

Disabling Turbo Memory and enabling the hybrid hard disk mode is working fine.
