T42 questions

First post on this board. Longtime lurker.

I have a chance to pick up a barely used T42 for a great price as a second machine. Main system is a T60p (with a Flexscan SXGA+ display). The T42 has the 14" XGA display which I know does not compare in quality to the Flexscan. I've heard all about the lack of brightness, bad viewing angles, etc... Is it really that bad? The system is out of state so I cannot look before buying. Should I hold off and look for a used T42 with the 14" SXGA display?

The 14" SXGA is not IPS either. The screen is fine, more than adequate for a second machine. Its very usable. This assumes that the screen is in good condition. After a lot of use, like all CCFL LCD panels it will begin to yellow and dim.
